Audiences were enthralled last Sunday when the local orchestra’s guest conductor, Franz Deutschermann, reportedly ascended the podium, raised his baton, and “just started fucking killing it up there.”
Concert attendee Jane Perkins said that when she first saw the conductor walk on after being introduced, she thought, “Who is this old man? He looks like he needs a nap, not to be conducting this orchestra.” It became clear to Perkins after the first note, however, that “this guy was not fucking around.”
Members of the orchestra also noticed Franz’s excessive performance on Sunday and commented on how the conductor appeared to be “waving the fuck out of that baton.”
“I’ve never seen a man’s hair flop around that much,” said piccolo Amy Tobson. Deutschermann’s energy was reportedly “unlike anything the band or audience had ever seen before.” Cellist Maya Pak said, “He put so much force into directing that final note I thought he was going to keel over and die on the spot.”
At press time, Deutschermann was being helped off stage as his final bow to the audience drained too much energy from him.
