Statue Outside UMMA Wins Guinness World Record For Longest Peek-A-Boo Tease

The Behind The Walls Statue, still going strong with the peek-a-boo.
It is unclear when the statue will let up.

The 25-foot tall statue outside of the UMMA, “Behind the Walls,” has reportedly earned a Guinness World Record for the world’s longest continuous peek-a-boo tease.

“It was a tight race between [‘Behind the Walls’] and the ‘see no evil’ monkey, but the statue’s concentration and focus won it in the end,” remarked Craig Glenway, an adjudicator for Guinness World Records.

Since the sculptures’ installation in November 2020, students have expressed excitement at the statue’s endurance in the game, calling it a “peek-a-boo legend” and praising it for “not letting up”.

Other students have reported anticipation at the upcoming “peek,” claiming the statue has been intentionally “edging” them for months.

“I’ve got to be there when it peeks. I just know it’s gonna happen soon. I spend night after night waiting to see its face,’” said LSA senior Matthew Spillman.

At press time, University officials were seen handing out copies of the printed certificate of the world record to tour groups.
