Sources reported nearly half of a recent toast given by Brennan came from Vince Vaughn’s dialogue in Old School.
Following a night out, friends of Gary Brennan realized that, rather than being genuinely funny, Brennan simply relies on quoting memorable scenes from popular comedy films.
“Yeah, it’s pretty disappointing,” said friend Nick Greene. “A guy can only rehash an entire scene from a movie so many times before it gets old. If he asks, ‘What do you mean, you people?’ from Tropic Thunder one more time I think I’m going to lose it.”
Greene continued, “Gary literally says his favorite animal is a ‘liger.’ Sure, I laughed the first few times he put on that Napoleon Dynamite voice, but it really just isn’t funny anymore.”
Brennan, however, believes that he is funny and provides an important service to the group.
“It’s not easy, watching all those movies,” he told reporters. “I don’t just watch a movie once and run with it. I’ll keep an eye out for funny situations, but after I’ll go to YouTube and really get the subtleties down. People have this great habit of commenting the best line right under the video, so then I know which ones have the best chance of killing it in person.”
“Knowing how to relate things to popular culture is a great skill,” Brennan continued. “Without me, there would be nobody to ask if the word ‘jogging’ is pronounced with a soft ‘J.’ You know, like than scene from Anchorman?”
At press time, Brennan was standing in front of the mirror repeatedly saying, “when the fuck did we get ice cream?”
