Despite expecting to be enveloped in a wave of raw passion while forced to submit sexually to her boyfriend, local woman Ann Morrissey reportedly said “ouch” during her first bout with BDSM.
BDSM, a term that encompasses “bondage, discipline, dominance and submission, and sadomasochism,” refers to a series of practices in which couples experiment with power dynamics and often inflict or receive pain, depending on whether they are sexually “dominant” or “submissive.” Though Morrissey had heard from her “wilder” friends that pleasure greatly outweighed any pain, one spank with a leather strap from boyfriend Dan Gilbrey left Morrissey with her doubts.
“It, like, hurt,” said Morrissey. “Going through that made me think to myself that maybe it’d be more fun to be the one hitting Dan with the strap…but I honestly don’t think that would turn me on either.”
“Yeah, when I lightly slapped Ann across the face she told me to stop immediately or she would leave, even though she had originally said she was okay with that,” said Gilbrey. “I feel like we might not have been doing it right.”
According to Morrissey, this experiment was just their latest attempt to be sexually adventurous. Previous attempts had been unsuccessful: sex in public made both feel “awkward and self-conscious,” sex in a pool was “not as logistically sound as one might hope,” and sex in a car was simply “not as comfortable as sex in a bed.”
“We keep hoping to be more fun, to have better stories to tell our friends,” said Morrissey. “But honestly I never want to be called a ‘dumb whore’ and thrown by my hair again. If Dan tries that shit again, so help me god…”
At press time, Morrissey and Gilbrey were switching back from a new sex position that “made [Gilbrey’s] neck hurt” to missionary.
