Initially excited to receive her Venti Caramel Macchiato at the Starbucks pick-up counter, coffee fanatic Heather Gillespie was left dismayed and confused to find that her long-anticipated Venti was actually just three Tall Caramel Macchiatos stacked on top of each other in a trench coat.
“I’ll admit, the drink really had me fooled at first,” said Gillespie who for a moment believed that her coffee was actually a Venti. “When I found out what was really going on though I was completely shocked.”
“I’ve seen a lot of things in my time ,” Gillespie added. “Grandes being dished out in place of Talls, peppermint lattes instead of caramel ones – but to serve three Tall Caramel Macchiatos wearing sunglasses and a large popped collar in lieu of a Venti… well that’s definitely a new one.”
After the initial shock wore off, Gillespie commented that she was left with a “residual feeling of disappointment.”
“It’s just so disheartening when you’re expecting one big drink, to find that it’s actually just made of three smaller drinks wearing a disguise, even if the volume of liquid is the same.” said Gillespie. “Like, if I had wanted three Tall caramel macchiatos in a trench coat, I would have ordered three Tall Caramel Macchiatos in a trench coat.”
“That’s just one of the problems you’ll face when working at a large company such as Starbucks,” said barista Markus Petura. “As much as we try to control for quality, well, sometimes three Talls stacked one on top of the other behind a pair of dark shades and a big black mustache will sneak by you and that’s just the way it is.”
At press time, Starbucks was seen remaking the drinking for Gillsepie free of charge while apologizing for “the little mix up.”
