Passersby Unsure Whether To Give Bald Women Empathetic Or ‘You Go Girl’ Look

A new experiment conducted by leading sociologists at Harvard university reveal that people tend to be unsure of whether to give an “I’m so sorry” or a “yassss feminist icon” look to bald women that they walk by.

The study reveals that this is a nearly universal reaction to bald women, with over 95% of
the population having these conflicting reactions. Susan B. Quanda, the head of the experiment,
Reports that, “baldness can really say a lot about a woman. It could mean she’s a huge feminist icon questioning what it means to be feminine, or she is dealing with a tragic illness. With such
antithetical possibilities, people aren’t sure how to approach bald women.”

The results of the experiment confirmed Quanda’s hypothesis. The researchers noticed that the
parts of the brain associated with fear, confusion, the fight or flight response, and empathy lit up
in almost all of the participants.

An additional interesting finding was that men and women had different parts of their brain light
up. For women, the empowered part of the brain would light up intermixed with the part of the
brain associated with the reaction “oh no that’s awful”. In men, the angry “wage gap doesn’t
exist’” part of the brain would light up intermixed with the part of the brain associated with
convincing oneself they aren’t having an emotional response that they clearly are having.
